Nicholas John Firbank, B.Sc., A.I.W.Sc., C.S.R.T., is an Independent TimberTreatment and Damp Proofing Consultant, an Associate of the Institute of Wood Science and an Expert Witness regarding Timber Treatment and Damp Proofing issues.

From 1984 to 1987 he studied towards an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Building Studies at Leeds College of Building.

In 1990 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Timber Technology and later the same year became an Associate of the Institute of Wood Science (A.I.W.Sc.

He qualified as a Certified Timber Infestation Surveyor (C.T.I.S) in July 1993 and qualified as a Certified Remedial Damp-proofing Surveyor (C.R.D.S.) in October 1993. In February 2002 he attained a credit in the Health & Safety module qualifying as a Certified Surveyor in Remedial Treatment (C.S.R.T.)

Throughout his working life he has been involved with the construction industry and from 1991 all of his work experience has been specifically in the timber treatment and damp proofing sector.

He has surveyed, specified treatments, project managed and supervised works in over two thousand properties, in Britain and overseas, ranging from small residential properties through to US$500m contracts.

The Royal Household has security cleared him and he has been involved in projects at Buckingham Palace, St James Palace, Marlborough House, Windsor Castle and The Sandringham Estate.
